History of Diploma courses in Lahore

After the annexation of 1849 in 1849, the British surveyed Lahore to determine its schools. Persian and Arabic were taught in 116 schools, as were Arabic and Persian in 26 schools, Arabic and Persian in 44 schools, and Hindi in 38 schools.

The mosques have always included madrassas. Few people used education to earn money for bread and butter. The British government provided jobs in the public sector to various departments, such as the police, the railways, and the military. Cash payment replaced the traditional barter system. It was necessary to have an education for residents of the area to be eligible for these new jobs.

Clerical positions were reserved for locals only. The Englishmen were offered higher positions with “European” grades. Locals served to act as bridges between rulers and rulers.

When the East India Company ruled, the British learned Urdu in Roman script, but at Fort Williams College, so they could communicate with natives. In 1857, when the War of Independence failed, the government transferred its power to the Crown, and English skills were necessary to secure higher-level government positions. 

It was also necessary to have a good understanding of various disciplines and technical skills. Many sought higher education in the UK as well as in the United States. In addition to touring England, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan founded Aligarh, and he encouraged Muslims to learn English so they could interact with other Muslims and gain government positions.

Several prestigious schools were founded for girls and boys, some of which had coeducational programs. The teaching methods in these schools were very different from those in madrasas.
